How do I receive a file within an email?

At the bottom of your message will be either a filename or an icon for a file.  Left clicking on this name will pull up the file automatically if you have a program capable of opening the file on your computer.  You may also save the file for later use by right clicking on the filename in the e-mail and selecting Save As.  Choose the directory you want the file to be stored in, but be sure you remember which one because you will have to find it later.  The filename should automatically be in there, but you may change it if you wish.  Then, go to Start, Programs, Windows Explorer to find your file.

Some files you need to unzip them in order to use them.  Zipping is a process of taking one or more files and compressing them into 1 file to save space.  You must unzip a file that has been zipped before you can use it.  This will require an additional program, we recommend using Winzip.

If the document you are trying to receive is a word processing, spreadsheet or similar type of file, you must have the same program on your computer that was used to create the file, or a program on your computer that is capable of pulling up a file from the other program.  For instance, if the person created the file in Word Perfect, you must have Word Perfect on your computer as well.  However, Microsoft Word will pull up files from Word Perfect, so you may use that instead.  Also, the programs have to be the same version or yours may be a higher version for it to pull the file up.  If you have a lower version than the person who sent the file, your version may not pull it up.
