I have your Internet CD, what do I do now?

If you have a CD with a label on it or on the CD cover, follow the instructions on the CD or CD Cover for installation instructions.

If you have a CD with a large pair of hands on the cover, please stop in our office and pick up the latest copy of our CD.

You may always call our office and ask if you have the latest version available for your version of Windows.

If you have a CD with no label on it, but written on it Internet CD follow these instructions.

The following instructions will show you how to setup Netscape Communicator:  Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive, go to My Computer, then select your CD drive, which is usually D:.This will bring up a listing of files on the CD, select Netscape Navigator, then click on the file with the highest numbers in the file name.  Several versions are on our internet CD for compatibility reasons, but for a new install, always use the latest version.  This file is the same file that you would download from Netscape.com.  Click on the appropriate file, and keep clicking Next to the prompts unless you want to change any of the default options.  Restart your computer and a icon will be on your screen for Netscape.  Click on it and it will start the installation process of Netscape.  You will need your user name, and our server settings.  Once that's done, exit Netscape.

The following instructions show you how to manually create a dialup connection in Windows.  Go to My Computer, Dial Up Networking and Make New Connection.  Type in Vance.Net and select the appropriate phone number for your area.  Click Next, then Finish.  Now, right click on Vance.Net go to Create Shortcut, and say Yes.  Right click on Vance.Net again, go to properties.  Take off the check box under the phone number, then go to Server Types.  Take off Log Onto Network, IPX/SPX Compatible and NETBEUI.  Click Ok, then close Dial Up Networking and My Computer.  You will now have an icon that says Shortcut to Vance.Net.  Click on that, put in your name and password, and hit connect.  When that's done, click on the icon for Netscape or Internet Explorer and you're on the internet!

You may want to change your home page for Internet Explorer.  You may go to Tools, Internet Options and take out the home page setting there and type in http://www.vance.net.  If you use Netscapeyou may change it by going to Edit, Preferences and on the left selecting Navigator.  On the right, put in home page: http://www.vance.net.
