We now support Front Page 2002 server extensions.
We have been working hard on several upgrades to our Vance.Net servers. We have migrated our old web server to a Windows 2000 Advanced Server box, we have moved our SQL Server from 6.5 to 7 and from an old Windows NT to a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. We have upgraded our mail server load capacity, and we have migrated from an old BIND DNS 4.3 to Windows 2000 DNS. Several customers have already noted the increased speed in their e-mail, and web page lookups and transfers, and we hope you enjoy the added benefits as well. For our customers that host web pages with us, be aware that you are now running on Windows 2000, therefore IIS version 5.0. The previous box was Windows NT, hence it was IIS 4.0. IIS 5 includes better ASP performance and features, and better security. All web sites support Front Page 2000 server extensions. If you have special security concerns with your web or ftp site, please contact Phil Hart. We are aware that some customers are using ftp and web accounts for business transactions. We would like to work with you to apply the correct security settings to these accounts, for instance to disallow anonymous access to these sites to view the files listed. Coming very soon will be the capability to monitor your web site traffic in real time. This service is only available to our paying web hosting customers, not user web pages. Currently, customers have the option of connecting to Vance.Net with the maximum speed of a dual channel ISDN line. In the future, Vance.Net will be implementing an even higher speed option to access the internet. DSL is a new type of service that will be available to the Henderson area in the near future. It offers around 50 times the speed of the regular 56k modem connection! This service is different from a cable modem that may be offered by your cable company. Check back here for more information when it becomes available!
